NERVS update

Hi All,

Quakes in the Svalbard area, Maule, Chile, Burma (Myanmar), the Balleny Islands region, a 6.6 in Taiwan and a 7.3 in Honshu, Japan on Oct 25 yield the following NERVS update:

4.5 or greater magnitude in next 10 days:
- Primary vector: Oregon (including offshore), Northern California, Southern California (including Baja and offshore), Central California
- Secondary vector: Washington, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming
- Also possible: Alaska, Western Canada, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Italy, India-Pakistan border region, Mongolia

NERVS update

Hi All,

A recent NERVS pattern in mid-August yielded quakes in Central California and Nevada that were not preceded by an update, but which were preceded by the less formal (but still mostly accurate) NERVS Twitter feed.

However, a pattern still appears to be developing. Therefore, quakes in the Andreanof Islands, Haida Gwaii Region (Canada), the Southwest Indian Ridge, Southern Iran, Southern Italy, the South Sandwich Islands Region, and North of Svalbard yield the following NERVS update:

4.5 or greater magnitude in next 10 days:
- Primary vector: Oregon (including offshore), Central California, Southern California (including Baja and offshore), Northern California (including offshore)
- Secondary vector: Oklahoma, Washington, Utah, Wyoming
- Also possible: Myanmar, Taiwan, Ukraine, New Zealand

- Primary vector: Southern California (including Baja and offshore), Northern California (including offshore), Central California
- Secondary vector: Oklahoma, Wyoming, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Chile, Peru
- Also possible: Iceland, Philippines, PNG, Western China, or a 7.5 or greater quake anywhere around the globe

Hi All,

Quakes in Southern Iran, Tonga, the Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge, near the east coast of Kamchatka, Papua, New Guinea, Western Xizang, the Fox/Aleutian Islands, and a 7.0 quake on May 13 in the Pagan Region (Northern Mariana Islands) yield the following NERVS update:

4.5 or greater magnitude in next 10 days:
- Primary vector: Central California (including offshore), Southern California (including Baja and offshore), Northern California (including offshore)
- Secondary vector: Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington
- Also possible: Northern Yukon Territory, Macquarie Island, Western Mongolia, Nepal

NERVS update

Hi All,

The last several California quakes, including a 5.1 off the coast of Northern California on 30 March 2013, were preceded by NERVS update tweets, but not a formal NERVS update message. However, a frequent pattern has been developing over the last few days (including quakes in Taiwan, Guatemala and Oaxaca). Additionally, recent quakes in the Caucasus Region, Pacific-Antarctic Ridge, Mid-Indian Ridge, Mindanao, Honshu, and a 5.4 in Burma (Myanmar) yield the following NERVS update:

4.5 or greater magnitude in next 15 days:
- Primary vector: Northern California (including offshore), Central California (including offshore), Southern California (including Baja and offshore)
- Secondary vector: Western Canada, Washington, Oregon, Nevada
- Also possible: Vanuatu, Sunda Strait
